Protecting information systems from cybercriminals must be at the forefront of strategic plans in the areas of business, military, schools, government, and even individuals.
The US Department of Defense has taken aggressive steps to defend its network, protect its data, and mitigate risks by mandating that contractors and subcontractors become compliant to the NIST 800-171 security controls by December 31, 2017. The NIST Special Publication 800-171 on Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Information Systems and Organizations will be reviewed.
